About

Hello there! My name is Chris and I was born in Sabah, Borneo.

I have been a writer since I was 18, and an editor and proofreader for 20 years. That’s three decades dedicated to the love of words and the trickery of a good turn of phrase.

From 2000 I was a journalist in Malaysia for 9 years, covering news, crime, courts, and politics. I also wrote features on travel, nature, eccentric souls, historical battles, and beautiful, dying arts. As a senior journalist, I found my niche editing the copy of my colleagues. I took particular pleasure hunting those innocent grammatical errors without mercy.

Then I flew off to ‘sunny’ ol’ Scotland to earn a Masters of Arts in Creative Writing, from Edinburgh Napier University. At one point, I led a team of writers for a Kuala Lumpur company that dreamed of creating Malaysia’s first MMO.

I have since settled in the United States, still writing, editing, doing what I love.

I am unashamedly a geek who loves travelling, food, writing about food, CRPGs, and collecting far too many books for my own good.
